KidsInclusive is the Coordinating Agency for children and youth with multiple and/or complex special needs and their families in the Service Delivery Areas of Kingston, Frontenac, Lennox & Addington, and Lanark, Leeds & Grenville. Part of Ontario’s multi-ministry Special Needs Strategy for Children and Youth, the objective of Coordinated Service Planning is to provide children and youth with multiple and/or complex special needs and their families with a seamless and family-centred service experience.
The Special Needs Strategy is a shared initiative of the Ministry of Children and Youth Services, Ministry of Community and Social Services, Ministry of Education and Ministry of Health and Long-Term Care. The vision of the Special Needs Strategy is an Ontario where children and youth with special needs get the timely and effective services they need to participate fully at home, at school, in the community and as they prepare to achieve their goals for adulthood. This is our vision too.
A Single Plan of Care for each child/youth that takes into account all of his/her goals, strengths, needs, as well as all of the services that the child/youth is and will be receiving is a hallmark of Coordinated Service Planning. Together with multiple partners providing services to children and youth with special needs – including District School Boards, Local Health Integration Networks (LHINS), developmental service organizations and others, KidsInclusive is working to strengthen capacity for Coordinated Service Planning, support consistent practices across organizations and sectors, and identify service gaps.
In addition to collaborating with community partners to make the most of existing resources, KidsInclusive is hosting newly funded Service Planning Coordinator positions. The Service Planning Coordinator position for Kingston, Frontenac, Lennox & Addington is located at KidsInclusive. In Lanark, Leeds & Grenville, the positions are located at Developmental Services of Leeds & Grenville and Lanark Community Programs.
