Monday January 18, 2021
As you are likely aware, the Ontario Government announced a provincial State of Emergency, effective January 12. Further, a province-wide Stay-At-Home order took effect Thursday, January 14, 2021 at 12:01 a.m. (more details here). We know that there is a lot of confusion out there about what this means to people across our community.
Please be reassured that KidsInclusive remains open during the provincial Lockdown, school closures, State of Emergency and Stay-At-Home order. We are deemed an essential service provider. The government’s January 12 announcement clearly states that “accessing health care services” – such as those provided at KidsInclusive – are considered essential. We know from our experience that the care we provide to kids and families is absolutely essential to their wellbeing.
We are continuing to provide both in-person and virtual appointments to clients at this time. We have significant, evidence-based COVID-19 protocols in place to keep you and our staff safe, if you visit us in-Centre.
Extended school closures
As part of the provincial State of Emergency, schools will remain closed until January 25, offering only online learning. Some School Boards are offering in-person classes for children with disabilities; your child’s school would be able to provide you with this information. However, by January 20, the government is expected to make a decision about whether the school closures should be extended. We know this, too, impacts many of you. Our school based therapists are continuing to provide service virtually where they can while students are participating in virtual learning from home.

We know that these enhanced restrictions add another layer of complexity to an already stressful situation. Things are changing quickly, and we are doing our best to respond, with safety as our top priority. If KidsInclusive can support you, please contact us. We are ALL in this together.
During the COVID-19 Pandemic KidsInclusive staff are compiling resources you can use at home to to support your child’s development.
Check out the KidsInclusive You Tube Channel where we will be building a library of online resources for families. If you are coming into the centre for a face to face visit or if a clinician is coming to see you, please see our “Preparing for your visit” page for details on new procedures during this time.
In this menu you will find pages for Speech Language Pathology, Occupational Therapy, Physiotherapy, Infant and Child Development as well as Wellness & Recreation resources. These will include videos, links and tip sheets. We will feature some of these resources on our Facebook page periodically.
Please continue to check back as we add resources.
