When you arrive
Please use the hand sanitizer available at all entrances at Hotel Dieu Hospital.
KidsInclusive is located on the 1st floor just past the Children’s Outpatient Centre. Please ask at the Information Desk in the main lobby if you are unsure where we are.
Please enter the Reception Room at KidsInclusive and let the receptionist know you have arrived for your appointment. The receptionist may have forms for you to fill out while you wait.
Once you have checked in please feel free to have a seat in our waiting room. A play area is available; however, parents/guardians must supervise their own children.
If your appointment is with a KidsInclusive clinician at one of our other sites; the clinician or appointment secretary will provide you with the location details prior to the appointment.
Please remember that Hotel Dieu is a teaching hospital and KidsInclusive believes strongly that we have a role in educating new clinicians. If you have any questions about the involvement of learners in your care, please ask to speak with your therapist or physician.
What to expect during your child’s first visit
At your first appointment, you will meet with one or more of our staff who will conduct an assessment of your child’s needs. In order to determine what your child’s strengths and needs are, we’ll ask you several questions. Your answers will help us determine the best way to help you and your child. If you are already involved with another organization, you are welcome to invite a representative to attend the assessment with you.
After the assessment, we’ll discuss what we can do. If we can help, we will recommend the most appropriate service(s) for your child.
Although there are waiting lists for some of our services, our staff will make every effort to begin treatment with your child as soon as possible. If other community programs or agencies are available to help your child, we will provide you with the names of those organizations and their contact information.
Your input as a parent/guardian is vital. We encourage you to share any comments, questions or concerns you have about your child with us.
